We've just had a couple of messages carrying a threat of locking our account -
> WARNING: An insecure file on your Lycos Webhosting account that is creating PHP Abuse > > After checking your account at Lycos Webhosting [..] we have noticed that you are currently running an insecure file [..]/viewtopic.php > > [..] we have decided to deactivate the file using FTP permissions, so that you have the possibility to look at the file, adjust it and later reset the FTP permissions to activate it again. However, this helpful permissions change has removed read access, so there is no scope to "adjust and reset" - chmod via FTP also gives a "permission denied". This file is part of phpBB, and doesn't look like it has changed since installation. There's also no upgrade available in the control panel. Are Lycos trying some kind of new heuristic security check? If so, it looks pretty broken. And how does one access these unreadable files to make checks? |
