Hi Ray,
Thanks for that it's really helpful. It makes sense to me now as to why it appears to cut off when the internet connection is still there. I'm off now to have a look at the url where you've written a little about different methods of FTPing files; every day is a learning curve on the internet. I realise dial up is crazy in this day and age but we are waiting to move house now and don't want to change anything before we go so I'm still stuck with dial for the present! I could do with you sitting on my shoulder as a permanent guru. I think once this is solved I will in future only do little updates at a time - might make life easier with dial up.
