Sorry but I don't think anyone can help you with the custom error 404
page. The code for writing custom 404 pages simply doesn't work. We think it's the way that Lycos have set up the servers and we've tried various different codes, but none work. Windows will not let you have a file named .htaccess. What the tutorial asks you to do is to upload the file and then rename it. You can do very easily in any FTP program. Even WebFTP lets you do it. As I said it's pointless as the custom 404 pages don't work, but if you need to edit .htaccess again for anything then you may like to keep this post in mind. Ray |
